Maffini

Campania, Italy

Cenito, Castellabate Campania, Italy Luigi Maffini is a talented winemaker from Campania, a wine region in the south of Italy, near Naples. He is considered to be the finest grower of Fiano in the region. In 1996, when Luigi inherited the winery his father established in the 1970s, he updated the vineyard, replanting fresh stock where he deemed necessary. His 12 hectares of vineyards are divided into two parcels: the first at Castellabate, 50 meters above sea level, and a second in Giungano, at 350 meters and located a few miles away from the Greek ruins of Paestum. His precious Fiano vines bask on southwest-facing slopes, encouraging development of this indigenous grape’s unique flavors. Maffini’s Fiano are incredibly complex; they can age 5-7 years because of their balanced acidity.
