Chassagne-Montrachet Burgundy, France The small domaine of Thomas Morey is comprised of 9 hectares of vines scattered principally around Chassagne-Montrachet and as well the villages of Maranges, Santenay, Saint Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet and Beaune. Thomas is the 6th generation of Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet. Claude Morey was the first to arrive in Chassagne in 1643 from Paris-L’Hôpital, a small commune in the Saône. He and his numerous descendants made their living as vignerons and barrel makers through the ages. At the end of the 19th century, the family claimed grape-growing as their primary livelihood. The vines have been divided and re-divided with each generation. For Thomas, After working in the vineyards of his parents and grand-parents for over 12 years, he decided to create his own domaine with his wife Sylvie in 2006.
