Traditional and staunch in many ways, Bordeaux is still a leader among fine wine producing regions around the world. Its main grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Sauvignon Blanc are grown all over the globe due to the region’s influence. The wines of the Médoc, Pomerol, Saint-Émillion, Graves, Margaux, and Sauternes need no introduction, but there’s also a growing scene of experimentation with organic agriculture and adaptations to climate change that challenge the status quo. Still, finely aged Bordeaux holds its place as a leader of exemplary and outstanding fine wine.
