Red Vinho Verde is something you must try and this is a particularly accessible example with its aromatic nose and refreshing spritz. The wine is unfiltered, inky and would be had with suckling pig if you were in Portugal.

Red Vinho Verde?! You got it! While it's harder to find than white Vinho Verde, this should definitely not be overlooked. If you've read my other wine staff picks, you may have figured out what kind of reds I like. I want fruit and florals, but that doesn't mean I want something sweet. Overall, I like wines with high acidity, something tart but not overly mouth puckering. This wine is like biting into a slightly unripe raspberry. It bursts with juicy red fruit and tangy acidity. Candied rose petal and a stony minerality add to an already enticing palate. It's bright, juicy, tart and spritzy. This "young wine" is meant to be enjoyed now. Drink up!
