Sankt Laurent, Rosi Schuster - 2021

Item # 21358 750mL

A complex Austrian red showing peppercorn, cumin, and dark berry notes on the nose. St. Laurent is a relative of Pinot Noir, so expect a lighter style of wine marked by the great acidity that is a strength of cool-climate wines. Delicious, ripe, and unwooded.

Staff Pick Notes

Sankt Laurent, Rosi Schuster 2017

Austrian wine is having it's moment and I am here for it. With remarkably high standards in winemaking, exciting varieties, and talented producers, this is a great place to explore. Sankt Laurent is a great place to start. It’s believed to be related to Pinot Noir and is a “parent” of Zweigelt. Known for being an excellent transmitter of terroir, this wine has a deep beautiful color and notes of both blackberries and morello cherries, finishing with some nice minerality. It also has some unique exotic spice elements that I think make it very interesting and particularly delicious. Lower in tannins and alcohol, and displaying some great contrast of ripe fruit and refreshing brightness, this wine is super food friendly. Though lighter in body, the flavors in this wine can stand up to dishes on the heavier side with savory spices. HW
