I have staff picked this wine before, but I think it bears repeating, especially now that it comes with a screw cap. This is one of the best values in the store, and if you can get it on sale, all the better. Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley is always a beautiful thing, and made into rosé, all the better. The fruit is a mix of strawberry and melon, with a hint of herbaceous greenery in the background. Such a delight!




There’s a lot to remember when it comes to the Loire. Novices, take note: Cabernet Franc is a great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscadet is unparalleled as a companion to shellfish, and Cour Cheverny is the best white wine appellation you’ve never heard of. Situated on the left bank of the Loire Valley between Angers and Tours, Saumur is a historic city dominated by one of the most famous castles in France.
