Lambrusco di Sorbara "Rito", Zucchi - 2021

Item # 39241 750 mL

Lambrusco that is specifically from Sorbara is always a paler version of this typically inky sparkling wine. The grapes were sent straight to press rendering the color the palest of pinks as there was no maceration with the red skins. This Rito cuvée is delicate, pale pink in color and tastes of strawberries and watermelon.

Staff Pick Notes

What is it about the Italians and their sparkling wine? Bubble for bubble, they pack more fun in their fizz than just about anyone. And Lambrusco, with its cheery red and pink hues, well, how can you not want to jump up and dance in your living room? The Zucchi family make a delicious lineup from their 20-acre farm in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. Each bottle varies in color and fruitiness, but each one seems to taste better than the next (even when you taste in the opposite direction). One of my favorites was the Rito, which is about as pale and pretty as they come. There's the soft floral nose, and delicate hints of watermelon and raspberry. It's dry and crisp, the perfect bottle to open for party or serve as an aperitif. It's pure happiness in a bottle.

Lambrusco (the name of both the grape and the wine it produces) is the main grape grown in the region of Modena, sandwiched between the cities of Parma and Bologna. As in most regions in Italy, there are also a slew of Indiginous varieties planted throughout the province. Wines from Albana,...
