Tasting Notes

Marzemino is an ancient, northern Italian red variety that today you frequently see in the Veneto region. This is a dry wine with a lot of dark berried fruit aromas and a touch of spice. Fresh and deeply colored.

Staff Pick Notes

Marzemino is like that hip, old Italian guy in a flashy Maserati.Although cultivated for centuries, this varietal exhibits all the virility you crave when paired with the classic cuisine of the Veneto. Expect black plum, crushed dark berries, fresh herbs, and ground spices, rounded out by almost-sweet tannins and the slightest bit of fizz. Harmonize with braised radicchio, fluffy gnocchi, creamy polenta, and even a hearty duck ragu. Zanovello's rendition is fermented in stainless steel, then transferred into old oak barrels to soften it just a bit without compromising it's innate vibrancy. So embrace what generations have known about this young-old grape, which even long ago garnered itself a shout-out in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni... "Versa il vino! Eccellente Marzemino!"
