The Trebbiano grape comes in many versions - each of which is nestled, not by accident, in the zone it was borne. This is made from Trebbiano Abruzzese which was made from free-run juice and fermented with native yeasts. The soils are a opulent and varied: limestone, clay and sandstone. The Tiberio estate's vines are located 1200 feet up beneath the Gran Sasso mountains just 20 miles from the Adriatic sea. The estate was purchased relatively recently and as luck would have it, the vines are above a much relished water table. Old vines, over 50 years in age. An impressive bottle that is unoaked, unfined and unfiltered. Luminous on the palate with a precise mineral aspect that will age well.

Abruzzi

Situated on the eastern calf of the Italian boot, Abruzzi is one of the most prolific wine-growing regions in Italy. Two-thirds mountains and one-third hills, it boasts highly favorable natural conditions for the cultivation of grapes. Abruzzi is most famous for its beautiful expressions of the red Montepulciano and the white Trebbiano, though many winemakers are now beginning to experiment with other grape varietals as well.

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo

In recent decades, as winemakers in Abruzzi created ever more exotic and expensive Montepulcianos, the quality of white Trebbiano d’Abruzzo shot up as well. No longer ordinary table wines, Abruzzo’s Trebbiano-based bottlings have become some of the finest whites in Italy.
