Staff Pick Notes

In Alsace, one can ask “what wine grower isn’t farming biodynamically?” Yet Christian Binner has been a leader in natural winemaking. Spontaneous fermentation, no filtration, and no addition of sulfur has resulted in living, soulful wines. Les Vins Pirouettes is Binner’s collaborative project with a band of young Alsatian winegrowers. This association has brought us simply awesome natural wines at super friendly prices. L’Eros de Vincent is an orange wine made from Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Auxerrois. The wine has been fermented on the skins for 25 days and has undergone 8 months aging in foudre (large oak casks). Lovely aromas of citrus, baked apples, and spice will jump out of the glass. The juice is lush and lively on the palate, with notes of tropical fruit and chamomile.

They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...

Pinot Gris

Pinot Grigio is an Italian synonym for the French Pinot Gris variety, but many more people have had Pinot Grigio than a Pinot Gris. At its most basic level, the grape produces varietals that are smooth and easy to drink, and perfect with a huge range of dishes that just beg to be paired with a fresh white wine. There is an entire spectrum of Pinot Gris/Grigio, however, the best of them being subtly aromatic and deeply colored, with formidable structures. Most of Italy's Pinot Grigio is grown in...
