Escubac Botanical Spirit

Item # 36320 750 mL

Everyone else is making gin so a new outfit of progressive distillers dubbed Sweetdram did something different: a juniper-free botanical spirit. Its’s spicy, citrusy and mixes really well with tonic or as a split base in just about any cocktail; Margarita, Penicillin, Martini, White Negroni to name a few. Escubac is distilled with 14 botanicals including caraway, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon and citrus. Post distillation, there is an addition of raisins and vanilla bean to give viscosity without overt sweetness and saffron to create an enticing yellow color. Escubac is what gin can, and should be, but without the limitations. Make your next G&T an E&T, using the best spirit we have tasted in a very long time.

Staff Pick Notes

What's Escubac and how do you use it? Think of it like a gin, except Escubac is softer around the edges and is concocted sans juniper. It's a liqueur, yes, but brimming with notes of cardamon and cumin spice you won't confuse it for a sugar bomb banished to the back bar. Familiar notes of lemon peel and clove invite a tight bitter/sweet dynamic that allow this spirit to appeal to the staunchest of G&T loyalists. Inspiration for Escubac comes from kummel, gin, and a desire to make something from natural ingredients (the color is from saffron, raisins impart richness and sweetness). Escubac is a modern liqueur. It doesn't rely on secret recipes or 100 grams of sugar to obscure its flavors. Surprisingly versatile in cocktails, a little bit addicting when consumed alone.

Glossary

Loire

There’s a lot to remember when it comes to the Loire. Novices, take note: Cabernet Franc is a great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscadet is unparalleled as a companion to shellfish, and Cour Cheverny is the best white wine appellation you’ve never heard of. As diverse as Loire wines are, one day soon you'll know your Melon de Bourgogne from your Romorantin.
