The first edition in the new Stories series from The Balvenie is the brainchild of Apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie. Wanting to elevate the inherent fruitness of the malt, she decided to emphasize American Oak in way the brand had not done before. To make the whisky ex-Bourbon matured whisky was decanted into Virgin American Oak casks that were heavily toasted in Scotland at by The Balvenie's own cooper. Layered with juicy, ripe autumnal orchard fruits, hints of the tropics, gentle spices and waves of vanilla, the spirit walks a nimble line between playful, easy going and serious malt drinkers malt. Well done.

History:Distillation was brought to Scotland from Ireland by missionary monks in the 6th century. In 1644, the first taxes were imposed on Scottish distillers by England, with the result that most of the nation’s whisky was soon distilled illicitly. With the Parliament’s passing of the “Excise Act” in 1824, licensing fees for distilleries were much cheaper.
