Item # 43540 750 mL

A real fernet that is a far cry from the ubiquitous artificially mint flavored mass produced alternatives. By building layers of flavor this fernet explores the many shades of bitter botanicals and spices with a wide range of exquisite organic ingredients including Saffron, myrrh, zedoary, rhubarb root, chamomile, gentian, angelica, nutmeg, star anise, fennel seed, allspice, galangal, cocoa nibs, chicory, orange zest, peppermint (fresh and essential oil), coriander, cinnamon, aloe ferox, sugar, salt. This will find fans for plenty of people including many who may think they don't like fernet.

Staff Pick Notes

I talk about New York wines all the time but let me not forget about our awesome locally made spirits like this riff on Fernet. Patrick Miller had been in the restaurant industry for 14+ years, using his cultural influences growing up in an Italian family in his culinary practices. This also led him down the rabbit hole of Italian spirits and inspired the research he did before starting his Bed-Stuy-based spirits company (in the same building as our beloved Forthave Spirits no less). The Fernet Pianta, whose name in inspired by his grandmother, is potent with aromas such as cooling mint, anise, pine, and menthol. It possesses flavors akin to fresh peppermint, cardamom, angelica, and gentian. Everything produced at Faccia Brutto is non-GMO grain based and 100% organic, traditional with sustainability in mind.
