Grappa is an oft misunderstood distillate. Yes, there are some rustic versions in the world, but I can assure you that Nardini's Grappa Mandorla falls nowhere near a description of this sort. In fact, this distillery revolutionized grappa production in Italy, setting standards since 1779 for all others to follow. This attracts attention for its unique base of double-distilled grappa blended with a natural maraschino cherry spirit. Add to this a pinch of almond oil and it's the liquid version of a marzipan tart, without the sugary sweetness. Certainly suitable for after dinner sipping year round, but as the weather warms I'll be adding Nardini Grappa Mandorla in to my favorite new cocktail - the grappa & tonic!
