This red is made from the Nebbiolo grape in the northeastern corner of northern Italy's Lombardia region. Specifically, this comes from the Valgella sub-zone within the area of Valtellina which is a picturesque valley with life-or-death slopes. The resulting wines are elegant and thrive on the slate soils. Break out some bresaola because the Valtellina is the birthplace of this deliciously cured meat but also of Nebbiolo.
