Gyokuro Tea Shochu

Kitaya Shuzo was founded in 1820, with the name meaning great happiness or joy chosen in reference to bringing joy to many through sake and traditional spirits. Their 'Gyokuro' Green Tea shochu is made using gyokuro tea leaves, which boast an impressive balance of rich umami, elegant aromas, and deep natural sweetness. These gyokuro leaves are distilled with Fukuoka rice and yellow koji, creating a rich and savory shochu with notes of seaweed, bergamot, and slightly sweetened green tea. It's beautiful and refreshing on the rocks or mixed with soda to make a green tea highball. But hear me out and use this as a base for your next herbaceous martini with lower ABV and elevated aromatics, or shake things up completely and use as a base for a matcha cocktail!
