This library release from the estate of Olga Raffault shows all the hallmarks of properly aged Chinon. Dusty dried fruit, softened tannins, stewed green pepper, and pencil shaving aromas give this finesse and true character. Pair with pork and mushroom ragù.

Staff Pick Notes

A great vintage from a benchmark producer in Chinon! It's no doubt that Cabernet Franc, specifically from the appellation of Chinon in the Loire Valley of France, has quickly become one of my favorites. It just hits all the right buttons. Complexity, thirst quenching acidity, great with food, delicious fruit. You name it, it's got it! But, the Creme de la Creme of Cabernet Franc has to be Olga Raffault. They consistently turn out beautiful, elegant, complex offerings year after year. This '07 "Les Picasses" is no exception. Searching notes of smoke, brush, earth, violets, olives, wild strawberries, raspberries, smoked cherries, jalapeño, chalk, clay, limestone, wet rock and cut hay abound on the nose and palate. This is truly the essence of terroir and is drinking beautifully right now! Pair with roasted game or quail with pomegranite.

In fact,...
