Staff Pick Notes

Previously supplying Cognac to larger houses, Jacky Navarre's goal was to move towards independent production. He felt destined to distill much like the predecessors at his domaine, which was one of the original pioneering Cognac houses. Tending to 12 hectares, primarily dedicated to Ugni Blanc, Navarre employs no use of chemicals, no filtration, and no addition of water for proofing. All reduction of ABV is done naturally within Navarre's humid cellars that sit close to the Charente River, something that Navarre believes provide his brandies with more body, length, and concentration of flavor. His Vieille Reserve is a blend of Cognacs between 40-50 years old, leaning closer towards the latter. Notes of powerful rancio, spiced vanilla, peach tea, and touches of cacao; just rivetingly complex and wonderfully enticing.
