Founded in 1812 and officially gained the, "Royal" addition in 1835 when they became suppliers to the royal throne, Brackla has been one of the most important single malts used in many of the great blends of the world. Sightings of official releases have been scarce until now, beginning with this benchmark 12-year expression. After opening with sharp notes of sulfur and matchbox that quickly gets you sitting upright, the warning signs give way to reveal a whisky that is rich and decadent. Additional notes include apple cider doughnuts, citron tart, key lime, cherry preserves, nutmeg, cocoa, canned peaches, honeysuckle, and wool.
