Staff Pick Notes

Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Andorno we lay our scene... A black cherry liqueur that is SO good, legend says it saved an entire population from the plague?! During the year 1000, peace was brought to the people of Andorno through the marriage of the liqueur-maker's daughter and the son of his enemy - the union sealed with a toast of 'ratafià' (to ratify), a term then coined to described fruit-infused spirits as well as unity and friendliness. Flash forward to 1880, when Giovanni Rapa dedicated his life to producing Ratfià liqueur, and his distillery in Andorno is still Rapa Giovanni's headquarters today! Black cherry juice, sugar, and a little bit of dry red wine are added to the base spirit of molasses to create a wonderfully nuanced dark cherry liqueur. Perfect to add some romance to your cocktails/ice cream!
