Antica Torino Sweet Vermouth

Item # 36682 750mL

Saying that this splits the difference stylistically between Cocchi and Carpano would not be doing it justice. A definitively sweet vermouth that has great depth but never feels heavy. A big reason being is that Antica focuses on local botanicals with a bent on pungent savory herbs including rosemary, thyme and oregano rounded out by citrus, rhubarb, wormwood and gentian. The vermouth is all natural with no artificial additives. The base wine grapes are Bombino, Trebbiano, Freisa & Moscato. A serious vermouth that you could happily get lost in.

Staff Pick Notes

Made exclusively with natural ingredients (no ready-made or artificial dyes), Antica Torino is a captivating sweet vermouth inspired by the oldest Savoy recipes of Italy. After much trial and error, thirteen botanicals and home-grown herbs such as Artemisia wormwood, gentian, rosemary, and even red thyme were selected and blended into a base of several Italian grape varietals, including the must of aromatic Muscat grapes! This is then combined with vanilla pods, grapefruit peel, and rhubarb, reinforcing the bitterness but adding a refreshing citrus kick that is reminiscent of orange sherbet. Burnt beet sugar adds natural color, replacing the industrial caramel that is commonly used. Ultimately, this vermouth works equally well as a sipping vermouth or in classic cocktails such as a Negroni, Manhattan, Americano or Boulevardier!

Several other Piedmontese grapes make striking and delicious wines: Pelaverga produces light-colored reds with distinctive notes of strawberry, cherry, and pink peppercorn. The red Freisa is vinified in a variety of styles:...
