In the small town of Solicchiata, Frank Cornelissen’s Magma vineyard, the Barbabecchi Soprano, sits at over 1000 m, which is the highest vineyard in the region. This is 100% Nerello Mascalese that has been buried in anfora for two years--the longest of any of his other cuvées. Tiny in production and hard to find, these wines are valued for their pure expression of the variety and vineyard.
