If you haven't tried a skin contact pet nat, do not miss out on this bottle. At Meinklang’s vineyards, Pinot Gris vines are unpruned and allowed to grow wild. This allows the berries to grow thicker skins, ideal for maceration. The resulting wine is generously aromatic with notes of peaches, ginger, and nutmeg. The complexion is a cloudy rust tinged orange (unfined, unfiltered). There is a granularity in mouthfeel. It’s a wine for cider fans. Since the late 80’s Meinklang has been the prototype of natural winemakers. Their wines are the fruit of strict biodynamic farming practices. Farming practices which improve the health of the land. Animals, orchard fruit, and grains are raised alongside the vines. Each element contributes to the well being of each other. The grapevines are happy and healthy. Great farming makes great wine.
