"No SO2" Cabernet Franc, Domaine de L'R - 2020

750 mL
Item # 38737

A Cabernet Franc made without the commonly used additive of sulphur which occurs naturally in all wines but is used excessively as a preservative. An atypical red wine that has a wild, musky side and a dose of tannins. Full of character and a red wine you can drink with a chill after decanting.

Staff Pick Notes

Despite the label on this bottling from FrĆ©dĆ©ric Sigonneau seeming like it is characterized with menacing qualities, this wine is absolutely one of jovial nature and approachability. Sigonneau returned back to his family’s estate after two years in Spain working on biodynamic ungrafted vineyards. With vines averaging 40 to 50 years old, he uses attentive viticulture and a focused organic approach to get honest, concentrated Cabernet Franc that is au natural. Vinified in stainless steel vats and aged on its lees for six months, this is a wildly expressive wine with hearty aromas that is intertwined by fresh and lively red fruit that dazzles on the palate with a grace all its own. This is a friendly entry way for those just getting into natural wines.

In fact,...
