Tasting Notes

Hands down one of the world's greatest and most important distilleries. Not only a benchmark for one of the world's most distinctive rum styles, but also a guiding light for anyone that values traditional, truly artisan, natural, manual production methods, something that is still way too much of a rarity in the spirits world.

The flagship expression has been made with 100% pot distilled molasses that was fermented with wild yeasts, aged on the island for a minimum of 7 years and proofed down with local spring water. Simply put, it is one of the best bottles you could buy. Don't miss this historic release.

Staff Pick Notes

The Hampden Estate Single Jamaican Rum possesses one of the most intoxicating and attractive aromas that I have ever encountered. Intensely ripe tropical fruits, bananas a bit past their prime, pineapples on the verge of spoiling-but not quite yet. Petrol, car exhaust and something deeply funky. High ester rum is the estate's specialty. Some of these aromas and flavors in isolation might not be exceptionally palatable, but in the hands of this historic estate in Trelawny, Jamaica they just sing like a choir. The proof is lowered from the traditional white lightning style with local spring water, which actually allows the aromas to shine even more brightly. This is a natural product from a unique distillery that looks like it was beamed in from the past. An exceptional beverage indeed!
