Riesling Sekt Trocken, Zeltinger Himmelreich, Schömann - 2022

750 mL
Item # 41040

A sparkling Riesling from slate-based soils that are 40 years old. The wine spends 9 months on the lees in bottle during the secondary fermentation. Hand-riddled. This Sekt is in a league of its own with fine minerals, stone-fruit aromas and a dry, clean finish. The Himmelreich vineyard is south-facing and one of the largest vineyards in Zeltingen.

Staff Pick Notes

If you are anything like me, you want dry, crisp, and delicious bubbly anytime of day, anytime of year. Schömann will always fill that bill. An amazingly complex dry, sparkling Riesling that will not break the bank by any means. This is my wine that fills the void of Champagne without making my wallet lighter. Schömann is filled with mineral notes of gunflint and whetstone. Expect peach, pear, and apricot abound as well as Riesling's classic hint of petrol and unripe green apple on the nose. I recommend having this wine with good friends, over board games that will inevitably ruin your relationships poured as as olive branch of forgiveness. Or Thai food. Either way you will be happy.

They are careful to retain the delightful honeyed, flinty flavors that the best sweet Rieslings have always displayed. Alsace, of...
