The award for my favorite rosé of the year so far goes to this great bottle from Monte Xanic. Seventy-five miles south of Tijuana, in Baja California, the winery has emerged as one of Mexican wine country's leaders, an intrinsic part of a blossoming region that deserves your attention. This wine is very clean, with a beautiful light cherry red hue. Beautiful red fruits on the nose, especially gooseberries, strawberries, and even a hint of tangerine. Seductive floral aromas, such as rosés and violets entice, making you wish you had picked up more than one bottle. Made from 100% Grenache, candied red fruits mix with hints of licorice, herbs, and grapefruit, making for a dry, yet flavorful and wonderfully refreshing rosé that paired perfectly with tacos al pastor.
