Gewürztraminer, Borell-Diehl - 2024

750 mL
Item # 42347

Deliciously aromatic and with a dash of sweetness. Always a match for assertively-spiced dishes. A new grower for us, Borell-Diehl, coming from the rolling hills of the beautiful Palatinate Pfalz region. The estate was founded in 1990 through a marriage and a joining of family's vines. Today the estate has 35 hectares of vines in their holdings.

Staff Pick Notes

It all started in 1990 when Annette Borell and Thomas Diehl married and founded Borell-Diehl, a winery composed of their families’ three wineries, which is located in the municipality of Hainfield. Fast forward to present day and the winery is now helmed by Annette and Thomas’ oldest son, George. It’s also nice to note that as of 2018, Borell-Diehl’s wines are certified vegan by the European Vegetarian Union. The grapes for this expression of gewürztraminer are sourced from the family’s estate vineyards in the Pfalz region of Germany. This off-dry gewürztraminer is nothing short of remarkable. You can expect hallmark flavors and aromas of rose and lychee in addition to honeysuckle, peach, nectarine, apricot, pear, and hints of ginger. - Nick

The pink-skinned Gewürztraminer does best in cooler climates, which allow the grapes to develop good balancing acidity. This is a necessary attribute of any...
