"My Grandfather Was A Lemonade Seller" is the name of this wine, paying tribute to winemaker Julien Pilon making his first vintage in his parents' garage - also where his grandfather had a lemonade business! Just as much care went into this 100% Viognier bottle as I'm sure went into the lemonade - the grapes were hand harvested from 4 parcels on plateaus overlooking the Northern Rhone Valley. The altitude and minimized sunlight, along with slow alcoholic fermentation at cooler temperature, preserve the fresh stone-fruit notes and beautiful floral aromatics. After some malolactic fermentation and 10 months on the lees, there is also a wonderful roundness to this wine and a nose of fresh baked pastry. An elegant winter white to pair with chicken Cesar pasta, Beyonce's 'Lemonade' album, and looking forward to spring!
