Nulu 5yr Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Prohibition Craft Spirits has been around only since 2016 but has already made a name for itself thanks to its lineup of small-batch spirits (barrel-aged tequila, rum, vodka, and gin). And now comes their latest release: a collection of bourbons and ryes, all sourced from MGP in Indiana while they wait for their own distillates to age. They've played around with different types of barrel aging, but the Nulu Straight Bourbon Single Barrel spends 5+ years in classic charred oak and is bottled at cask strength. It leads with enticing aromas of caramel, creme brûlée and dried fruit, while the palate shows cinnamon, brown sugar, milk chocolate, and raisins with an earthy, peanut finish. It's bold yet smooth, and though you do feel the heat, it's more of a vehicle for flavor than a show of force on its own. It's an impressive debut.
