Tasting Notes

Easily one of the most spectacular single malts we have tasted in quite some time. These annual experimental releases from one of the greatest (but still overlooked) distillers in all of Scotland have become some of the most exciting and dynamic bottlings you can get your hands on. This expression comes from spirit distilled exclusively on February 7th, 2011 with a portion aged entirely in oloroso sherry casks and another portion finished in port pipes. The marriage of the two lots was bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.2% ABV. Showing a healthy amount of peat that proves a perfect foil for the two wood regiments, the whisky comes together harmoniously with notes of dark chocolate, preserved oranges, fig bars, coconut cake, spiced pudding, and brown butter.
