Christian Drouin Le Gin Pear Small Batch Limited Edition Gin - 2021

Christian Drouin is one of France's great Calvados masters, but his gin, made from an unaged base of the same ciders that go into the brandies, has also had a loyal cult following for years. In this bottle is a brand new seasonal release distilled from a single harvest's Domfront cider pears, and a tweaked botanical profile including local iris, peppercorn, and lemon. It is one of the most immediately springtime-feeling gins on the shelf: bright and green and wonderfully aromatic in the glass. While it's a less juniper-forward style, the pear base mimics the green, bright, refreshing flavors that juniper would normally bring in a unique way that will work with any of the classic gin cocktails and especially shine in simple preparations like a G&T.
