Cascina Alberta is a small, family run, 5 hectare domaine. Thirty percent of their vineyards are planted to a unique type of Nebbiolo called Nebbiolo Rosé which, as the name suggests, is paler in color yet still a red wine. This is a highly aromatic wine that pairs well with wild boar sausage or duck confit.

Staff Pick Notes

Here's an irresistible pleaser. This Barbaresco is made from all estate cru Nebbiolo Rose, a highly aromatic variant that, as the name suggests, has a bit less tannin and anthocyanin than the predominate Langhe clones. It's not too common but it shows up in the Barolos of some rather well regarded producers. In Barbaresco-Giacone, Cascina Alberta go all in with it, creating a Barbaresco that drinks beautifully 4-5 years after the vintage. I'm sure this would hold up well for at least a decade, but why wait?

Piedmont
