Martell Blue Swift VSOP Cognac

Item # 47298 750 mL

An experiment that has clearly paid off, Martell officially dropped the Cognac designation to release this bottling that doesn't strictly conform to the official standards because the results were too good. To create Blue Swift, a batch of VSOP Cognac that would normally be bottled is instead finished is fresh ex-Kentucky Bourbon casks. The richness of the finished brandy and the way the whiskey notes seamlessly enhance the Cognac's character is spot on.

Staff Pick Notes

If you’re a Bourbon fan looking to dip your toes into the endless river of joy that is Cognac, you could definitely start with this. Blue Swift is premium Cognac finished in bourbon casks to create a truly singular spirit the celebrates the best of both worlds, their past and future. And you’ll be in good hands, because Martell has been making incredible Cognacs for a good three hundred years, and in 1783 were the first Maison to ship Cognac to the United States. So here it finally comes full circle, in an expression first released to the world in 2018, where you’ll find Martell’s hallmark style - delicate notes of plum and candied fruit – complemented by the subtle sweetness, toasted oak and vanilla from the Bourbon casks. Makes an absolutely delightful mint julep, or serve neat and ice cold with Szechuan beef.
