We've long been admirers and collaborators with this historic domaine, and we don't throw the word historic around lightly. The Ravignan Estate dates back to at least 1600 and the current generations are still there, preserving the time honored traditions of the region, including of course the making of top tier Armagnacs. There brandies are always confident, regal and understated in nature but quick to remind you after a couple of tastes that there is always a profound depth that lies just beneath the surface. Centuries of savoir faire will get you that. Not to be missed as always.

I love the seasonality of the Northeast as autumn begins. Days get shorter, leaves turn, and Astor starts stocking up on Armagnac in time for the holidays. Castles have graced the property of what is now the Château de Ravignan in the Bas-Armagnac area since the 12th century. The name Ravignan itself comes from the deep ravines surrounding the property that once served as a natural defense. Today, they grow the Armagnac dream-team of Ugni Blanc, Baco, Colombard, and Folle Blanche grapes in iron-rich, sandy soil, distilled together by the traveling still that arrives each November, as they have done for hundreds of years. Dark amber in the glass, plummy aromas with hints of toffee, spice, and subtle rancio introduce us to a rich palate with mouth-coating flavors of cocoa, almond and oak. Enjoy after the first cassoulet of the season.
