Staff Pick Notes

The Boggione family has been tending to vineyards in Barolo for a few centuries. Although a few of their plots have been sold, they've managed to hold onto their 1.1 hectare holding in the revered Brunate vineyard. In 2006 Claudio bottled the first Barolos under the Boggione name. This Langhe Nebbiolo is made from the harvest of just a few rows of the Brunate vines. They are the more recent plantings and are situated on the sandier side of the clay rich plot. This is a Nebbiolo from a single vineyard wine at a crazy modest price. The liquid in this bottle shows a myriad of flavors. There is density and concentration. Stewed berries, plums, and persimmons are among the fruits that play on the nose and palate. Add notes of purple flowers, dried herbs, and gravelly minerals to the mix. Granular tannins are well integrated.
