A First Growth, Erste Lage, from the Kappellenberg vineyard which is located on the high foothill of the Haardt mountains in the charmingly-named village of Gimmeldingen. Layers of limestone with gravel and red sandstone soils. The vines were planted in 1989 and 2004. Spontaneous fermentation, 2/3 of which was in large wooden barrels.

About the Producer

In 1845 Prof. Dr. Ludwig Häusser and his cousin Johann Martin founded a small winery in Gimmeldingen as a hobby, and over the course of the next generation winemaking became their main profession.
