Fiano di Avellino "Iclassici", Torricino - 2024

I feel like Fiano doesn’t get enough love among Campania whites. Falanghina is the popular kid: friendly and easy to like, reliably fun at parties and won't break the bank. Greco can be understated and shy but reaches rare depths of intensity when expensively cultivated on the best volcanic soils around Tufo. But in Avellino, Fiano manages to combine aspects of both. More charming and expressive than Greco at this price, and more complex and structured than most Falanghina, it is simply a delightful wine. This cuvee from Torricino benefits from extended lees aging that adds yet another dimension to the complexity.
