This dry red blend of Dolcetto, Lambrusco, and Tokai comes from the San Antonio de las Minas vineyard in Ensenada. The vines are 85 years old and has a heavy oceanic influence. Partially whole cluster fermented, this bright and racy red will pair well with duck quesadillas.

Dolcetto

A red grape variety grown in Piedmont and nearly nowhere else. Dolcetto-based wines are not sweet, as many people might surmise on hearing the name; the Piedmontese declared it "dolce" only because it is lower in acid than the wines they're used to. Dolcettos are usually meant to be enjoyed young. Some of the best ones come from the area around the town of Alba.

Lambrusco

One item from Emilia-Romagna that hasn’t yet broken through to ubiquity is Lambrusco, the slightly fizzy indigenous red wine that runs the gamut from sweet and desserty to dry, mineral and mouth-gripping. Lambrusco (the name of both the grape and the wine it produces) is the main grape grown in the region of Modena, sandwiched between the cities of Parma and Bologna.
