Alambique Serrano 3 Años Oaxacan Rum

At the very North of the Mexican state of Oaxaca, is a cloud covered, mountainous region called Cañada. It is an isolated place and hours from any highway. It is home to some of the world's most compelling rums. Here is where you'll find the Alambique Serrano distillery. The 4 brothers Krassel are the 3rd generation keepers of the distillery. Everything here is pretty much done the same way as 100 years ago. Cane is farmed with no chemicals and harvested by hand. Fermentation is done with native yeasts. The 3 Años is Alambique's first bottling that is intended not to run out (most other batches do sell out). It really is a joy to sip on. The rich mouthfeel and flavor is reminiscent of not a so sweet, light maple syrup. There are plenty of spice notes such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Some orange citrus and buttery notes also appear.
