Elijah Craig Astor Select Barrel Proof Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey - 2015

After a decade of pushing and patiently waiting, we finally have our first ever barrel proof single barrel from this iconic label, hand selected by us. A whopper of a whiskey each sip packs a serious punch from start to finish. Distilled in September of 2015 and aged for just over 9 years in the 5th floor of rickhouse 1I on the historic Bernheim campus. The rickhouses this legendary sight are the only ones at Heaven Hill built entirely from brick, making the maturation of the casks here particularly distinctive. The high floor location too has made for a seriously concentrated whiskey that clocks in at a staggering abv. of 67.15%. Water unlocks all the flavors large and small but anyway you split it this is a concentrated powerful whiskey full of autumnal scents and flavors and laced with powerful spice and smoke notes. Perfect for the season and punching way above its perceived class.
