Our new exclusive creation crafted onsight at the distillery. Everything about this custom cask finish we created for this single barrel was focused on going deep on the oak intensity of the whisky and building layers of flavor that felt like the best of old bourbons without losing that touchstone cherry and warm apple pie Maker's trademark. To that end the specific stave selections were - 1 Baked American Pure 2, 1 Seared French Cuvée, 4 Roasted French Mendiant & 4 Toasted French Spice. And there is cherry and apple pie upfront in spades but underneath the surface you'll find dark maple syrup, cocoa, aged tobacco, graphite and nutmeg. In our experience this dram will benefit heavily from some drops of water or a rock, and ample time to air out.

Staff Pick Notes

This bottling is as unique a Bourbon as there is from the iconic Maker's Mark. Years of top secret research with Independent Stave Company led to the origin of this bottle, with careful testing of almost every version of oak available to contribute flavor to a whiskey. 9 out of the 10 staves selected for this barrel are French, and these all go through a seasoning process over an open flame to add loads of flavor. These were selected to create the most distinctive Maker's possible in comparison with the flagship bottling. While only a finish, it is assured you will find flavors in this Bourbon that are not found anywhere else. The French oak adds significant depth to the palate with an assortment of spices, brown sugar, Tahitian vanilla, and cocoa. So much flavor is packed into each sip; please allow it to open in your glass!
