Tasting Notes

An aromatic red wine from vines planted outside of the capital city of Lisbon. An accessible blend made from the local red grapes: Aragonez and Touriga Nacional. A delicious wine. Medium-bodied, fresh on the palate with plenty of red and dark-berries fruit aromas.

Staff Pick Notes

This Casal do Ramilo has everything I look for in a wine for all seasons: structure, versatility, freshness, and flavor. And the price is right too! A blend of 50% Aragonez and 50% Touriga Nacional, it's a wonderful medium-bodied crowd-pleaser. Subtle floral aromas on the nose lead to a terrific balance of lightly jammy cherry and plum flavors and a smooth finish. The Ramilo family has been making wine for four generations just North of Lisbon in Colares and the Lizandro River Valley, and this wine makes me want to pay them a visit in person to say obrigado for this reasonably priced, highly enjoyable bottle of vinho tinto. Since I can't wait 'til I can afford a plane ticket, I better get a bottle for myself right now. Saúde!
