Staff Pick Notes

I recently had the privilege of visiting Cathy Corison’s estate in the St. Helena district of Napa Valley. With a majestic backdrop of the Mayacamas Mountains and sitting in her ‘Kronos vineyard’ I was simply stuck down by the purity, freshness and character of the wines that we tasted. Defined primary notes of ripe plum, fruit leather and black cherry. A soft and even mineral component from the loamy soil and sparsely manicured rows. The subtlest touch of French Oak, reminding us just how far this wine can go in the cellar. In such proximity to some of the most volume producing estates in Napa, the parity could not be clearer. Corison of course goes back to the Spanish spelling Corazon, and you can taste the care and craftsmanship that goes into each of her bottles.
