This Cannonau matures in old barrels for 9 months then ages in the bottle for 3 months before release. Full of herbs, paprika, red fruit aromas and a hint of licorice. Complex, earthy and full of southern Italian character that goes above and beyond what you may think. A fine choice for Bucatini all'Amatriciana. Canonnau di Sardegna is the same grape as Grenache however the expression in Sardinia is nothing compared to the French counterpart. This red grape has an exquisite ability to age in its finer forms and this bottle clearly has the pedigree to hold for years to come.

I am emotionally attached to Sardegna: I used to go on vacation in this beautiful island with my family. The ocean is fantastic but the inland is wild and still pure and not industrialized. I remember visiting Orgosolo, the town where this wine is from and eat "porcheddu", a roasted pig dish, underneath big oak trees! In the site where the vines are planted utensils probably dated 1900 BC and used to taste wine were found This wine is hand harvested, aged in oak for nine months and in the bottle for three more months. It's a very balanced wine with aromas of red berries and balsamic herbs. In the palate it's full body with bright acidity and firm tannins. It's a wine with strong personality that reflects the land and the people of this beautiful place.
