One of the top estates of the Pfalz and for good reason, Weingut Christmann takes no short cuts: hand harvesting, strict yield control and ideal vineyard sites. The Pfalz has the warmest growing season of all German vinicultural regions. The resulting wines are bigger in body with softer acidity. This is a dry Riesling with palpable acidity, orange blossoms and peach fruit. Just delicious and we dare say nutritious.

There is a bag of SweetTarts that sloutches gluttonously on my counter. They are not the regular circle SweetTarts, they are in Easter shapes... bunnies, rabbits, ducks. I don't know if you have/ are familiar with something candydish adjacent in your home but I'll tell you from experience having candy just laying around is DANGEROUS!!! And that's how I came to find that Easter shaped SweetTarts and Christmann, Riesling are kismet. (The yellow ducks especially.) Bone dry, like- I've been wandering around the Sahara and haven't see a cloud in a twenty-seven days --dry! Petrol reminiscent of sweltering summer afternoons in the back seat of your parents car while they filling up on gas. Lush summer fruit, juice begging to burst from the seams. Peaches, pears, pineapple. Heaven.

About the Producer

In 1845 Prof. Dr. Ludwig Häusser and his cousin Johann Martin founded a small winery in Gimmeldingen as a hobby, and over the course of the next generation winemaking became their main profession. In 1894 Eduard Christmann married Henriette Häusser, the granddaughter of the founder. The Estate bears the name of her son Arnold, and is run in the 7th generation by Steffen Christmann.
