The American Gin Co. has outdone itself with this boldly botanical, highly extracted, sweet-and-sour rocket ship of joy. Small-batch American gin is blended with the fresh pressing of Damson plums, an increasingly obscure variety that is too astringent and tart to be consumed raw, but whose juice lends inimitable pizzazz, brightness, and gobsmackery to base spirits, particularly gin. Try it in a fizz as a substitute for sloe, blend it with ginger beer, or Dolin dry vermouth. But its best use might be at brunch with Prosecco alongside a buttered biscuit smeared with Damson plum jam.
