A classic Bordeaux with all the expected Old World earthiness. From a château renovated just 30 years ago, and grapes planted in 1850, this full-bodied wine is quite fresh and elegant with notes of forest floor, blackcurrant, and cedar box.
Here is a beautiful left bank Bordeaux. Chateau Aney has a history that dates back to the 19th century, with the most recent owners buying this abandoned property in the 1970's. With a full update of the winemaking facility, Jean Raimond and his son Pierre returned the estate to Cru Bourgeois status. The star here is classic left bank terrior, with the 15 hectare estate resting on gravel soils tucked between St-Julien and Margaux. Cabernet Franc has remained close to its roots in France, enjoying small pockets of popularity primarily in the Loire Valley (specifically in Chinon), where it is often bottled as a varietal...
The result of an illicit affair a hundred-odd years ago between Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon today enjoys more worldwide popularity than both of its parents combined. It is the principal grape of Bordeaux, and as such has rightly earned its place among the greatest and most long-lived wines of the Old World; of course, it is also the most heralded grape of California,...
