I never thought that a Pez Dispenser could deliver anything as remarkable as this knockout Bordeaux. But seriously folks, this checks a lot of Bordeaux fan boxes: Incredible vintage, check. Terrific producer, check. Great value for money? Double check. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a mighty lashing of Merlot for a heady combination of smoothness and longevity, a lovely nose greats us with blackberry, cold pie, red licorice, and a touch of smoke and earth. Plush concentration and a tannic backbone you can lean on for strength will support us dining on big proteins and/or roasted vegetables. This property is owned by the Cazes family of Paulliac's Lynch-Bages and I think they describe this wine perfectly: "seductive in its youth, yet ready to develop finesse after a few years of bottle age." Sublime.
