I love trying new wines. But when I preoccupy myself with only what's new, I forget to enjoy the wines I already adore. Alvarinho is a perfect example, and this 100 percent varietal bottling from Vinho Verde is truly a reminder. The nose is fresh and delightful; sweet fennel, ripe yellow peach, and lily flowers mingle with a luscious green quality, one not unlike the aroma of fresh asparagus. The palate is slightly briny with a long mineral finish. Enjoy this wine to remind yourself of a grape you already love, or to gain entry into the refreshing world of Vinho Verde.
